Simple Genius

Finally! I was given this book as a gift from a good friend and after months of trying to read this book(between exams and post-exam chores), I finished it today. It was a good read, though i wouldnt recommend it to people who arent fans of conspiracies. It is basically about Baldacci's favourite protagonists Sean King and Michelle Maxwell who have been featured in his previous works(which i later found out!!!). I was wondering why Baldacci wasnt delving into any history about these two characters. Anyway, its about them going to a place called Babbage Town where genius people are in a race to discover quantum computers among other things. Main theme is cryptology although there arent any puzzles for the reader to break. Just references. Sean (and later Michelle) go there to solve a murder mystery. A guy named Monk Turing has been killed and Private Investigator Sean King is assigned the task of uncovering the truth. In the course of solving the murder mystery, they stumble upon heinous acts being carried out in the CIA facility in the name of national security. I wont spoil the mystery so I stop here. One of the really fun and intriguing things came at the END of the book after the story had finished. The writer wrote about a cipher called The Beagle Cipher which Im currently researching and which shall be the topic of my next post! Ciao till then!
